The interior-designer owners have retained as much of the charm of the old house as possible whilst upgrading and renovating every part of the house to create a calm and peaceful holiday home.

Starting with Crittall-style black aluminium windows in keeping with what would have been the original style of the period the exterior of the house has remained mostly unchanged in it’s appearance whilst inside has been totally modernised. The house comprises of a large open-plan kitchen dining area that opens onto a large terrace, perfect for evening drinks and a BBQ after a day at the beach.

Brushed brass accessories through-out the house link back to its period roots, with cabinets sourced from Stockholm, worktops from the USA and terrazzo concrete tiles from Italy. Downstairs has a large walk-in shower room finished in sealed concrete throughout for minimal finish. Off the large entrance hall is a study/guest-room with a luxurious sofa-bed and memory foam mattress topper for extra comfort. The sitting room has a log burning stove, piano and large deck to the garden at the rear which provides cooling shade in the evenings and a sunny breakfast terrace in the morning.

Walking up the original staircase you have a master bedroom with a kingsize bed and built-in plywood cabinets and bookcases. A central family bathroom with a shower and full-sized bath, also fully finished in sealed concrete. Then finally a bedroom with two single beds - perfect for children sharing- but also full-sized singles for adults alike. The owners have cleverly used the extra space in the eaves of the house to cut in one of the beds and create additional storage from ply-wood boxes.

The house is set back from a very quiet cut-du-sac and enjoys a peaceful aspect from all sides with a lawn at the rear and terraces surrounding the property for sun or shade depending on your requirements throughout the day. Every aspect of the house has been meticulously considered as you walk around the spaces for maximum functionality and minimal fuss.
